Match Recap: Men's Tennis |

Pedro Alvarez Earns 80th Career Victory on Men's Tennis Senior Day

Pedro Alvarez, already Chicago State's all-time leader in career singles victories, reached another plateau Sunday at H-F Racquet and Fitness in Homewood, winning his 80th career singles match with a straight set 6-1, 6-1 victory over Nathan Favier of Youngstown State. The victory also established a new record for most singles victories in a season with 24, breaking a tie with Prakoso Imanuel set in 2005-06. Alvarez's victory was the lone win for the Cougars who lost to Youngstown State 6-1.

"The guys knew that we had to battle today, and they did," head coach Jack Barton said. "We came out on the short end and probably sealed our fate to make the conference tournament. It's very disappointing because we had enough to make it, so we just have to close out the regular season on a positive note."

Compete results listed below.

The Cougars will be back on the court and close out the regular season April 20-21, facing IUPUI on the 20th at the IUPUI Tennis Courts in Indianapolis then at Northern Kentucky on the 21st at the Linder Tennis Center at Lunken in Cincinnati, Ohio.
