Box Score The Chicago State women's tennis team won their fifth consecutive match with a 5-2 win over UIC Wednesday afternoon at H-F Racquet and Fitness in Homewood. The Cougars clinched the doubles point and picked up singles victories from
Katarina Dukic,
Manuella Eloundou and
Helin Alvarez to clinch the victory and
Amina Taibi won to round out the scoring for CSU. Both Eloundou and Alvarez lost their first sets by a 6-0 count and both rallied for three-set victories.
"We started out solid in doubles," head coach
Jack Barton said. "UIC played very well also. I think we played the key points very well and that's what led to success in getting the doubles point. Singles was a different story. We had to go into survival mode in some of the matches because UIC started really strongly. One thing I can say about our women is that they never believe a match is over until the last point is played.
"In two of the matches we won, we lost the first set 6-0. Manuella and Helin had to come back against insurmountable odds and they pulled it off. I can't tell you how proud I am of them going into conference. They are playing as a team with great confidence and a huge belief in themselves and each other."

The Cougars next match will mark the beginning of Horizon League play, traveling to Bloomfield Township, Michigan to face Oakland at Bloomfield Tennis and Fitness at 1 p.m.
