Box Score Division III's No. 2 ranked University of Chicago's women's tennis team earned a 6-1 decision over Chicago State Sunday afternoon at XS Tennis in Chicago. The Maroon won the doubles point and five of six singles matches for the 6-1 victory. Five of those singles matches went three sets with only the Cougars
Sofiya Sedovich winning in two sets, 7-6 (4), 7-6 (5), at No. 3.
"We played a lot of tennis today" head coach
Jack Barton said. "Chicago is ranked No. 2 in the nation in DIII and their roster is filled with 5-star players and they're coached well, so for us to fight the way we did after yesterday's long match really shows grit. This match was different than the last few where we came up short. Every singles match went three sets with the exception of Sofiya's (Sedovich) who actually played more games than Ethel's (Li) three-set match.
"I think at this point we just have to be patient, stay encouraged and realize that we have to use these experiences to get better. I believe that we will get over the hump. We are a very good team despite our record."

The Cougars will be back on the court Wednesday, February 28 with a pair of matches at the H-F Racquet and Fitness Club in Homewood, taking on Eastern Illinois at 1 p.m. then Roosevelt University at 6 p.m.
