Cougars Men’s Basketball Post 93-70 Victory over IU Northwest in Season Finale

Box Score The Chicago State men's basketball team beat IU Northwest 93-70 Monday afternoon at the Jones Convocation Center in Chicago. The victory was the 12th of the season for the Cougars which is the most single season wins for CSU men's basketball since the 2013-14 team won 13. 

Chicago State led from the opening score, a three by Brent Davis, but the Cougars couldn't extend the advantage and led by single digits for the first 11 minutes of the game. IU Northwest cut the deficit to six at about the halfway point if the first half but would get no closer and the Cougars would post a 7-3 run to end the half to go into the halftime locker room leading by 13, 40-27.

The Cougars led by 21 with 14:02 remaining in the contest, there largest lead of the game to that point, and led by as many as 25 throughout the remainder of the game before settling on a 23-point margin, 93-70.

Jahsean Corbett led three CSU players in double figures and all scorers with 25 points, followed by Wesley Cardet with 18 and Brent Davis with 11. Cam Jernigan added seven points but had a team-high 18 rebounds, including six on the offensive end.

Today's game wraps up the season for Chicago State who end the season with a 12-18 record which are the most in a season since the 2013-14 team went 13-19 in their first year in the Western Athletic Conference. The game also marks the Cougars last as an independent with each of CSU's teams moving into the Northeast Conference next season.
