Box Score The Chicago State women's tennis team lost to Illinois State 5-2 at the Evergreen Racquet Club in Bloomington, Illinois Saturday afternoon. ISU swept doubles for the team point and won at No. 1 singles for a 2-0 lead. Chicago State answered with wins in the next two matches when freshman
Nia Cooper won in straight sets at No. 6, 6-4, 6-1, followed by No. 5
Ethel Li who won win three sets, 3-6, 6-3, 6-3. The Cardinals won the last three matches, with two of three going three sets.
"The women didn't play with the focus in doubles they had the last two matches," head coach
Jack Barton said. "But, when it got to singles, they played with a lot of heart and determination. Although we lost today, we played much more focused in singles than we did in the last match so I think we are back on track to the competitive level where we want to play."
