Cougars Volleyball Earn Second Consecutive Sweep of Mercyhurst on Senior Day

Box Score The Chicago State volleyball team earned their second consecutive sweep of Mercyhurst Saturday afternoon at the JDC in Chicago to move to 11-1 in the NEC. The Cougars currently sit alone atop the NEC standings and will travel to Saint Francis next week to face the 10-2 Red Flash on Friday and again Saturday. If the Cougars get one more win, they will clinch the NEC and host the conference tournament.

The Cougars dominated Saturday's match by scores of 25-16, 25-10 and 25-18 then honored seniors Andrea Calderon and Berenice Almeyda who played in their final regular season home match for CSU. Calderon led all players in digs with 14 and Almeyda had six kills and two blocks.

Karly Klaer led all players with 14 kills and Patrycja Lagida added eight. Wiktoria Zagumny had 30 assists and Julieta Sandez had five blocks to lead the Cougars.
