Chicago State Volleyball Sweeps Mercyhurst

Chicago State volleyball beat Mercyhurst 3-0 Friday night at the JDC to remain undefeated at home in the NEC and alone atop the league standings at 10-1. The Cougars pulled out a tight game one as the Lakers turned back four set points before CSU prevailed 25-21. In game two, the Lakers held a set point at 24-23 before Julieta Sandez had a kill, a solo block and a block assist to deliver a 26-24 Cougars win. CSU scored seven of nine points to gain a game three lead and cruised to a 25-17 win and three-set victory.

Karly Klaer led all players with 17 kills and Zahara Quraishi added nine. Andrea Calderon was the digs leader with 17 with Klaer contributing 12. Wiktoria Zagumny had 28 assists and Sandez had four blocks to lead the Cougars.

Same two teams play Saturday, November 9 at 1p at the JDC.
