Box Score Aidan Lopez scored a pair of goals and
Bruno Baez added another as two Chicago State freshmen teamed for all of the scoring in Cougars 3-1 win over Howard in men's soccer on senior night Thursday at Gwendolyn Brooks in Chicago.
The Cougars were aggressive from the start and
Danail Sergiev, one of 10 seniors recognized prior to the game, earned a penalty kick in the game's opening minute and Bison goal keeper Liam Keller made the initial save but Lopez knocked in the rebound to give Chicago State a 1-0 lead. Lopez scored his second goal of the night in the 32nd minute. Both goals were the first of his collegiate career.
Howard cut the margin to one in the 42nd minute but that would be their lone tally of the night and Baez added a Cougars insurance goal in the 45th minute for the 3-1 final. Playing in their final game for the Cougars included

Fontana picked up the win in goal for the Cougars, allowing just the one goal and credited with three saves.
The Cougars finish the season with a 3-11-1 mark and 2-5-1 in the inaugural season in the Northeast Conference.good for a seventh-place finish in the nine-team league.
