Box Score The Chicago State women's basketball team lost a 87-45 decision to Butler on the road Wednesday morning at Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana. The Cougars paced the Bulldogs throughout the first quarter and into the second where the teams were tied on six occasions, but a 10-0 Butler run to end the half left Chicago State playing catch up.
Asha Walker was the lone Cougars player in double figures with 11 points on 4-of-8 shooting which included 3-of-4 from beyond the three-point stripe. As a team, Chicago State shot 40 percent from distance compared to 24 percent for Butler but CSU committed 29 turnovers to the Bulldogs 14 and Butler held a 38-17 advantage in points off turnovers.
The Cougars will be back in action Saturday, making their home debut against Cleveland State at 4:30 p.m. at the Jones Convocation Center in Chicago. The game is the second of a Chicago State homecoming triple header with volleyball kicking things off against Mercyhurst at 1 p.m. and the men's basketball team capping the action at 7:30 p.m. against Youngstown State.
