Box Score The Chicago State volleyball team picked up the school's first-ever conference victory as part of the Northeast Conference with a 3-0 sweep over Central Connecticut State Friday night at Detrick Gymnasium in New Britain, Connecticut. The Cougars had been a Division I independent the past two years before becoming a full member of the NEC at the beginning of July.
The Cougars won by scores of 25-18, 25-13 and 25-16 and limited CCSU to a .093 kill percentage while hitting .247 as a team, led by
Patrycja Lagida with 11 kills.
Berenice Almeyda and
Julieta Sandez each contributed seven kills and Almeyda led all players with four service aces.
Andrea Calderon had 16 digs and
Karly Klaer 15.
Wiktoria Zagumny had four kills on four attempts and led all players with 31 assists.
With the win, the Cougars improve to 1-0 in the NEC and 5-8 overall while Central Connecticut falls to 0-1 in conference play and 2-11 overall.
The same two teams will be back in action tomorrow, Saturday, October 5, at noon.
