Wagner Gets Past Chicago State 2-1 in Women’s Soccer

Box Score Wagner College scored in the 85th minute to break a 1-1 tie to take a 2-1 NEC women's soccer victory over Chicago State Thursday afternoon at the Illinois Technical Institute in Chicago.

The Seahawks scored first in this one, just before the four-minute mark and took a 1-0 advantage at the halftime break. Chicago State got the equalizer in the 50th minute when Hannah Bennett set up Jackie Tamayo who scored her first goal of the season and it was 1-1 with 40 minutes remaining. Wagner held an 8-4 advantage in shots but only 3-2 in shots on goal. Tamayo was credited with both of Chicago State's shots on goal.

With the loss, the Cougars fall to 0-4 in the NEC and 0-10 overall while Wagner College improves to 2-1-1 in conference play and 3-4-5 overall. 

The Cougars will be back in action Sunday, October 6, traveling to Brooklyn, New York to face LIU at the LIU Soccer Park at 12 p.m. CT.
