Box Score The Chicago State volleyball team remained perfect in NEC play with a 3-0 sweep of Stonehill Saturday afternoon at the Jacoby Dickens Center in Chicago. The Cougars are now 8-0 in conference play and seven of those victories have come via a three-game sweep.
CSU jumped out to an 8-2 and 19-6 lead in game one and cruised to a 25-13 win. In game two, Stonehill led 10-9 before the Cougars won nine of the next 11 points to claim control 18-12. The Skyhawks staved off a pair of match points before Patycja Lagida put the game away with a kill and a 25-18 victory. CSU controlled the lead most of game three before Stonehill went on a four-point run to carve into CSU's lead, going from 19-12 to 19-16. The Skyhawks cut the margin to two, 22-20, before the Cougars reeled off three consecutive points to close out the game and complete the sweep, the second over Stonehill in as many days.
Karly Klaer led all players with 11 kills followed by Lagida with 10. Chicago State had the top three players in digs with
Andrea Calderon leading the way with eight, followed by Lagida and
Zahara Quraishi with three apiece and
Wiktoria Zagumny led all players with 29 assists.
Chicago State entered the day with a perfect 7-0 mark in the NEC, tied with FDU who were riding a 13-match win streak. The Knights lost leaving the Cougars alone atop the NEC standings with three two-game series remaining. The Cougars next action is an important two-match set against FDU on November 1-2 in Teaneck, New Jersey at the Bogota Savings Bank Center.
