Box Score The Chicago State men's soccer team lost to St. Francis 3-1 Sunday at Stokes Soccerplex in Loretto, Pennsylvania.
The Cougars scored first in this one, with
Luka Assaf connecting on a ball from
Danail Sergiev in the 15th minute to put Chicago State out front 1-0. St. Francis gained the equalizer in the 22nd minute and took a 2-1 lead just a minute later and CSU was down 2-1 at halftime. The teams played to a draw for the majority of the second half before SFU gained an insurance score with just nine seconds remaining in the game to come out on top 3-1.
Sergiev led Chicago State with three shots while Assaf was credited with two and
Aidan Lopez and
Dasha Curiel each had one.
With the loss, the Cougars drop to 2-9-1 overall and 1-3-1 in the Northeast Conference while St. Francis improves to 5-5-2 overall and 3-1-1 in league play.
The Cougars will be back in action Thursday, October 24, hosting FDU at Gwendolyn Brooks College Prep in Chicago at 7 p.m.
