Box Score The Chicago State women's soccer team lost 3-1 Thursday night against Central Connecticut State at the CCSU Soccer Field in New Britain, Connecticut.
The Cougars trailed by one at the half when CCSU tacked on another goal in the 48th minute to extend the lead to 2-0. In the 68th minute, junior
Bethany Bergholm intercepted a pass from the CCSU goal keeper and converted the score for her first goal of the season to cut the deficit in half, 2-1. Central Connecticut was awarded a penalty kick in the 77th minute and scored to extend the lead to the 3-1 final.
CCSU held the advantage in shots (17-9) and shots on goal (7-3).
Delaney Kenney led Chicago State with four shots and
Jay Arballo was credited with four saves.
With the loss, the Cougars fall to 0-12-1 overall and 0-6-1 in the Northeast Conference while CCSU improves to 4-8-1 overall and 4-2 in league play.
The Cougars will be back in action Sunday, October 20, hosting Stonehill at Gwendolyn Brooks College Prep in Chicago at 1 p.m. CT.
