Box Score The Chicago State men's soccer team scored three goals in a nine-minute span late in the second half to complete a comeback from a two-goal deficit to win 3-2 over the Milwaukee Panthers Sunday afternoon at Engelmann Stadium in Milwaukee. Danail Sergiev scored in the 76th minute and in the 84th before Iann Topete knocked in the game winner with under five minutes to complete the comeback victory.
In the first half, the Panthers came out hot offensively with a goal just nine minutes into the match to go up 1-0.
The Panthers continued to press offensively and the Panthers scored again in the 25th minute to increase the lead to 2-0.
Chicago State produced several offensive opportunities but were unable to find the back of the net as the Panthers led 2-0 at the break.
To start the second half, the Cougars continued to attack as they produced several scoring chances, yet it wasn't until the 76th minute that Danail Sergiev swiftly finished to get back into the match at a 2-1 score.
Chicago State turned the match around as Sergiev knocked in his second of the match in the 84th minute to knot the score 2-2, setting up Iann Topete's game winner in the 85th minute.
The Cougars improve to 1-1 and will be back in action Friday, September 1, traveling to Birmingham, Alabama to face UAB at 7 p.m. at PNC Field.
