"I thought doubles was really good," head coach
Jack Barton said regarding the men's match. "Just small things got us in trouble. Not being able to hold serve when it counted was the biggest thing. When singles started, the top three guys really played with energy and confidence that kept us in the match. Our No. 5 & no. 6 players were not ready for the moment. They dug themselves in way too big of a hole that they couldn't get out of and that made the difference.
"The women's match was a carbon copy of what happened with the men. Doubles were small mistakes. Then, for singles, the top three came out and set the tone but our No. 5 & No. 6 didn't follow. They didn't come out with any sense of urgency. They didn't get point started and make service returns. It made for a frustrating day."
The women will be back on the court Sunday, at Colorado State in Fort Collins to take on the Rams at 11 a.m. while the men's next action will be against Eastern Illinois Friday, March 10.
