CSU Beats North Central College 5-2, Fall at Northwestern 4-0

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Chicago State men's tennis team played a pair of road matches Sunday, traveling to Naperville where the Cougars beat North Central College 5-2, then headed to Evanston where they dropped a 4-0 decision to Northwestern. The Cougars captured the doubles point against North Central and clinched the victory with three consecutive singles wins, eventually winning four of six matches. Against Northwestern, the Wildcats swept to victory with the doubles point win and three singles wins, leaving three matches undecided.

"North Central came to play today and they are going to be a force at the D-III level," head coach Jack Barton said. "They started with a lot of energy and, luckily, we didn't get too far behind are were able to take back control. In singles, we settled in and got some very decisive wins to win the match.

"Against Northwestern, we played much better in doubles and we were a lot more competitive in singles than we were the last time we played them. We just have to compete with the same consistency every match."
