"I am extremely proud of the ladies and their efforts," head coach
Jack Barton said. "We have to learn to tighten up the little things. I loved their competitiveness against a UIC team that has 10+ Horizon League championships during their time in the league. I couldn't be more proud of them today.
"These girls really focused against Holy Cross. Some would have considered this a trap match because we could have easily lost, they are that good. But we kept our focus and really played each point with purpose and intensity. I know they were tired after the first match, but I am so proud of the way they pulled through this one."
The women's tennis team will be back on the court Friday, traveling to East Lansing, Michigan to face the Michigan State Spartans on Friday, February 24 at 1 p.m. at the MSU Indoor Tennis Center. The Spartans enter the day's competition with a 4-2 record and will play Xavier at 9 a.m. before taking on the Cougars at 1 p.m.
