Duquesne Sneaks Past Chicago State in Men’s Tennis 4-3

Cougars Next Action is against Idaho March 3

Box Score The Chicago State men's tennis team dropped a tough 4-3 decision to Duquesne Saturday afternoon at the Shadow Valley Tennis Club in Toledo, Ohio. The Cougars jumped out to an early 1-0 lead with wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles and held a 3-2 lead with singles matches being contested at No. 6 and No. 2 where both Cougars players lost in three-set matches and Duquesne was able to pull out the come-from-behind 4-3 win.

"We started strong but let it slip away," head coach Jack Barton said. "We let our emotions get to us towards the end of the match. We let external circumstances control our internal selfs and we self destructed. We dug a hole we could not get out of. It's a shame that we couldn't pull this one out, because the guys played well enough to win. But it shows that this game is not only physical, but it is mental."

The Cougars will have 12 days off before hitting the court again, traveling to Colorado Springs March 3-4 for a neutral-site match against Idaho March 3 before playing at Air Force March 4.
