Cougars Men’s Basketball Lose to DePaul 70-58

Box Score The Chicago State men's basketball team led throughout most of the first half and by as many as five points on several occasions before going cold from the field and DePaul took advantage turning the deficit into an advantage in a 70-58 Blue Demons victory over the Cougars Saturday afternoon at Wintrust Arena in Chicago.

DePaul hit three consecutive three pointers during a 15-3 first-half run to go up seven and CSU closed the half with a 10-5 run, with Brent Davis providing all the Cougars points during the stretch and the Blue Demons led by just two at the half, 32-30. DePaul opened the second half with an 11-0 run to push the lead to 13 and held a double-digit lead for much of the second half with the Cougars cutting the margin to seven as late as the 5:47 mark but DePaul answered with a 7-1 run and cruised to the 12-point victory.

Wesley Cardet led a trio of Cougars in double figures with 18 points. Brent Davis added 15 and Jahsean Corbett 11 as well as pulling down seven rebounds to lead Chicago State in that category. As a team, CSU only converted 2-of-17 three pointers.

Chicago State will be back in action Tuesday, January 2, traveling to Manhattan, Kansas to face Kansas State at 7 p.m. at Bramlage Coliseum.
