Jacia Cunningham dropped 12 points, while Tae'Lor Willard and Laura Segues added 10 each in a 84-51 women's basketball loss against Butler on Sunday afternoon in Indianapolis, IN.
First Quarter - Butler 19, Chicago State 15
- Chicago State kicked off the scoring after a second-chance layup from
Taylor Norris to lead 2-0
- Butler then hit two free throws to tie it, yet the Cougars answered back with a jumper from
Josie Hill, retaking the lead at 4-2
- The Bulldogs then went on a 7-0 run, taking the lead at 9-4-
- Both teams then went on trading buckets, however Butler managed to edge the Cougars by one at 10-9 to lead 19-15
Second Quarter - Butler 40, Chicago State 31
- Butler began with scoring this time with a layup to increase their lead to 21-15
- Chicago State bounced back with a trey from Segues to trail by 3 at 21-18
- The Cougars then managed to execute an 11-8 run which featured buckets from Segues, Willard, Cunningham, and Yzabelle Tevao to tie up the game at 29-29
- The Bulldogs ended up finishing the half outscoring the Cougars 11-2 which again increased their lead, this time to 40-31
Third Quarter - Butler 64, Chicago State 43
- The Bulldogs started out with a 5-0 run to continue in the lead at 45-31
- Chicago State managed to cut the run with 4-2 scoring run with buckets from Hill and Norris to trail by 12 at 47-35
- Butler then went on a 12-0 run which cemented their lead at 59-35
- The Cougars managed to outscore the Bulldogs from this point at 8-5, yet they still remained in the lead with a score of 64-43
Fourth Quarter - Butler 84, Chicago State 51
- Chicago State came out with a 4-0 run with scoring from Cunningham and Hill, yet still trailed 64-46
- The Cougars only managed to score 5 points to the Bulldogs twenty which resulted in a win for Butler with a final score of 84-51
The Cougars will return to the hardwood at the Jones Convocation Center tomorrow as they host GA Southern at 3:00 p.m.
