Wesley Cardet and Noble Crawford dropped 12 points each in a 66-50 loss against St Thomas University on Sunday afternoon at the JCC.
First Quarter - St Thomas 30, Chicago State 25
- Both teams came out hot trading buckets back-and-forth leading to a 10-10 tie
- The Tommies then executed a 9-0 run which earned them a 19-10 lead
- The Cougars then managed to gain momentum and execute an 11-5 runs with buckets from Corbett, Davis, and Crawford to trail by 3 at 24-21
- St Thomas were able to finish the quarter outscoring Chicago State by two at 6-4, which resulted in a 5-point lead at the half with a score of 30-25
Second Quarter - St Thomas 66, Chicago State 50
- The Tommies kicked off the scoring with a deuce to remain in the lead at 32-25
- The Cougars answered back with a tough second-chance layup from Cardet, leading to a 32-27 score
- Both teams then went on scoring on several possessions back-to-back, yet the Tommies retained the lead at 39-31
- Chicago State then executed a 5-0 run, with points from Cardet and Davis, to trail by 3 at 39-36
- Teams once again traded buckets, however St Thomas maintained the edge with a 49-45 score with seven minutes remaining in the game
- The Cougars fell shorts as the Tommies managed to seal the quarter with a 17-5 run, cementing their victory with a 66-50 score
The Cougars will return to action on Wednesday, December 13 at Northwestern at 7:00 p.m.
