Box Score The Chicago State men's soccer team traveled to Edwardsville, Illinois for the quarterfinal round of the OVC Tournament on Sunday afternoon where they dropped a 2-0 decision to No. 4 Lindenwood University despite outshooting the Lions 12-8.
In the first half, the Lions jumped out to an early 1-0 lead five minutes into the match. The Cougars, the No. 5 seed, were then forced to press up the field, producing several chances which were ultimately unsuccessful as the Lions maintained their 1-0 lead at the break.
In the second half, Chicago State remained in search of an equalizer however the Lions defense did not break. Eventually, the Cougars high press would lead to a Lindenwood counterattack in which they doubled their lead to 2-0 at the 78th minute to solidify their victory.
The Cougars finish the season with their most wins in a season with a 5-10-4 overall record and finished with a conference mark of 3-4-3, qualifying for the OVC Men's Soccer Championship as the No. 5 seed.
