Box Score The Chicago State women's soccer team closed out their season hosting Allen University for the second match of their back-to-back matches on Friday night at Gwendolyn Brooks College Prep, suffering a 3-1 loss despite Giselle Sahagun bagging her second goal in two matches and fifth of the season.
In the first half, much of the play was held up in the midfield for the majority as Allen held their own, unlike Thursday's match where they allowed five first-half goals.
It didn't take long for Allen to strike on the counterattacks as they converted two goals within five minutes to lead 2-0.
However, at the 33rd minute mark the Cougars earned some momentum with a strong finish from Sahagun to inch closer at 2-1 which would remain at the break.
To start the second half, Chicago State was able to maintain much of the possession as Allen retreated to defend their 2-1 lead.
Despite several attempts from the Cougars, the Yellow Jackets stood their ground and in a counterattack with just six minutes in the match, earned a free kick which they converted to increase their lead and solidify their win at 3-1.
The Cougars season ends with a program-best four wins in head coach Josh Reyes' first season as head coach.
