Women's Soccer Wins 5-1 Against Allen University

Box Score The Chicago State women's soccer team hosted the Allen University Yellow Jackets on Thursday night at Gwendolyn Brooks College Prep earning a 5-1 win with two goals each from Daliisha Spence and Hannah Bennet, along with another from Giselle Sahagun which marked the fourth win of the year and the most wins ever in a season for the program.

In the first half, the Cougars quickly opened up the scoring with Sahagun finishing swiftly to open up the scoring only 3 minutes into the contest. After the opener, Chicago State would go on to score two more as Spence found the back of the net twice with one at the seventh and 14th minute marks. 

The Cougars continued their dominance, holding much of possession and producing several scoring chances. It wasn't long until Bennet joined in on the scoring as she racked up two of her own with goals at the 26th and 35th minute marks to head into the break with a 5-0 score.

In the second half, the Yellow Jackets managed to counter several times off of lost possessions from the Cougars which eventually turned into a goal at the 58th minute mark to finally break through and prevent the clean sheet at 5-1.

Chicago State was unable to find the back of the net again with several missed chances, yet they were able to seal the win after a strong first half performance with a final score of 5-1, the most goals ever scored in a match for the program.

The Cougars will once again take on Allen University tomorrow at 6:00 p.m. at Gwendolyn Brooks College Prep as the senior class will be recognized in a small ceremony prior to the game.
