The Chicago State women's soccer team faced off against the Long Island University Sharks on Wednesday in Brooklyn, New York and suffered a 3-1 loss with
Karoline Riisnaes tallying her first goal on the season.
In the first half, the Sharks took control of the match as the Cougars stood their ground defensively. LIU continued the offensive attack and eventually found the back of the net three consecutive times with goals at the 19th, 21st and 28th minute to earn a 3-0 lead at the break.
To start the second half, the Cougars pressed up the field looking to find a goal of their own. In the 51st minute Hannah Bennet played a ball into
Katie Dohnel who fired it in to earn the Cougars their first goal of the match.
Chicago State still fell short as the Sharks managed to maintain their two-goal lead at the final whistle to seal their victory with a 3-1 score.
The Cougars will next take on Holy Cross University on October 17th in Worcester, MA at 4 PM.
