Box Score 2 The Chicago State women's tennis team picked a pair of non-conference victories today, earning a 4-2 victory over St. Thomas at the H-F Racquet & Fitness Club in Homewood in the morning, then picked up a 5-0 win over St. Francis at Challenge Fitness in Lockport in the afternoon.
Against St. Thomas, the Cougars dropped the doubles point but earned singles victories at No. 1, 2, 3 and 4 to for the win.
Katarina Drazic earned a three-set victory (6-2, 4-6, 6-2) at No. 2 to clinch the team victory.
Cali Fuller,
Sofiya Sedovich and
Lizi Morgoshia also won. Drazic and Sedovich went 2-0 on the day, winning at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively, at St. Francis, and
Katarina Dukic (No. 4) and
Susana Andres (No. 5) also earned wins against the Saints. Complete results listed below.
"Our doubles teams are playing better. We were close against St. Thomas but just missed that opportunity," associate head coach
Adesuwa Osabuohien said. "We're making improvements but still have some work to do. We were able to find our focus to pull out two victories today. We will use this experience to move forward and strive to be better each day."
The women will be back in action Friday, Feb. 11 at Western Illinois taking on the Leathernecks at 2 p.m. in Galesburg, Illinois

About Chicago State
Chicago State University Athletics is comprised of 15 intercollegiate teams involving over 150 student-athletes that compete in basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, tennis, indoor and outdoor track and volleyball. CSU held memberships in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and NCAA Division II before transitioning to NCAA Division I in 1994. Melvin Bland was the first CSU student-athlete to gain NAIA All-American status in 1974 as a wrestler. Fred Evans became the first black swimmer ever to win a national championship in 1975. CSU's women's basketball team earned a spot in the 2011 Women's Basketball Invitational and CSU's men's basketball team won the 2013 Great West Conference Tournament title and made an appearance in the CollegeInside.com Postseason Tournament (CIT). The Men's Outdoor Track & Field 4x100-Meter Relay team were 2019 Honorable Mention All-Americans and WAC Champions. Their feat marked the first time the Chicago State's men's track & field program was represented at the national meet. In 2021, three different CSU teams earned victories over Big Ten opponents with men's soccer beating Northwestern, women's basketball upending Wisconsin and volleyball, which established a school record 17 wins and hosted a post-season volleyball tournament for the first time in program history, swept Indiana in Bloomington.
