GREEN BAY, WI - The Chicago State women's basketball team faced off against the Green Bay Phoenix and lost 92-42
Tae'Lor Willard and YzabelleTevao scored eleven each to lead in points, while Janiah Newell added on nine of her own.
First Quarter - Green Bay 20, Chicago State 6
- The Cougars opened up the scoring after a drought of two minutes with a jumper from Jacia Cunningham
- Both teams then went on a back-and-forht scoring run leading to a 6-6 score with two deuces from Newell
- However, the Phoenix then went on a 14-0 run to completely stun the Cougars and finish the first quarter leading 20-6
Second Quarter - Green Bay 44, Chicago State 14
- The Phoenix continued their run and ended up leading 23-6
- However, Chicago State was able to cut the run with a driving lay up from Yzabelle Tevao to reach a score of 8-23
- Unfortunately, Green Bay ended the half outscoring the Cougars 21-6 as they comfortably led 44-14
Third Quarter - Green Bay 62, Chicago State 24
- Chicago State opened up the scoring with a beautiful jumper from Cunningham to reach a score of 16-44
- The Phoenix then converted two free throws, however, the Cougars retaliated with another jumper, this time from Newell
- Nonetheless, Green Bay ended up outscoring the Cougars 18-10 as they led comfortably heading into the final quarter 62-24
Fourth Quarter - Green Bay 92, Chicago State 42
- The Phoenix opened up with an 8-0 run to increase their lead to 70-24
- Fortunately, the Cougars finally got a bucket from Willard to cut the run and reach a score of 26-70
- Both teams then ensued on back-and-forth scoring play however it meant that the Phoenix would take the win comfortably at 92-42
The Cougars next face off against Ball State University in Muncie, IN on December 30th at 5:30 P.M.

Chicago State University Athletics is comprised of 15 intercollegiate teams involving over 150 student-athletes that compete in basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, tennis, indoor and outdoor track and volleyball. CSU held memberships in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and NCAA Division II before transitioning to NCAA Division I in 1994. The Men's Outdoor Track & Field 4x100-Meter Relay team were 2019 Honorable Mention All-Americans and WAC Champions. Their feat marked the first time the Chicago State's men's track & field program was represented at the national meet. Chicago State volleyball recorded a historic season in 2021, with Yanlis Feliz becoming CSU's first volleyball All-American and head coach Tony Trifonov earning selection as WAC Coach of the Year. During that same season, three different CSU teams earned victories over Big Ten opponents with men's soccer beating Northwestern, women's basketball upending Wisconsin and volleyball, which established a school record 17 wins and hosted a post-season volleyball tournament for the first time in program history, swept Indiana in Bloomington.
