CHICAGO, IL - The Chicago State men's soccer team faced off against the Western Michigan Broncos and suffered a 2-1 loss.
In the first half, the Cougars came out hot and completely stunned the Broncos with a goal at the 6th minute by Cal-Wayne Allen which was assisted by Niall Reid-Stephen.
Nonetheless, the Broncos countered and eventually struck in a goal with just a minute to spare before the half at the 44th to tie it all up 1-1.Â
In the second half, The Cougars and Broncos each produced opportunities on goal however were unsuccessful thanks to stout defense from both sides.
As the tie remained, the game got more intense which resulted in a straight red for Cal-Wayne Allen after a late tackle which left the Cougars to ten men.
Eventually, the Broncos took this advantage and buried in the winner at the 83rd minute as they sealed the victory with a 2-1 final score.
The Cougars face off against Akron on Wednesday at 6 P.M. for their regular season finale.

Chicago State volleyball recorded a historic season in 2021, with Yanlis Feliz becoming CSU's first volleyball All-American and head coach Tony Trifonov earning selection as WAC Coach of the Year. During that same season, three different CSU teams earned victories over Big Ten opponents with men's soccer beating Northwestern, women's basketball upending Wisconsin and volleyball, which established a school record 17 wins and hosted a post-season volleyball tournament for the first time in program history, swept Indiana in Bloomington.
