The Chicago State women's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision to the Valparaiso University Beacons Sunday afternoon at the SeatGeek Turf Field in Bridgeview.
Both teams were on the attack from the outset of the match and Cougars freshman goalkeeper Alexa Seiler kept the score knotted at 0-0 with a save in the tenth minute of the match. The Beacons finally broke through in the 33rd minute Cassidy Eckstein scored to give Valparaiso a 1-0 lead. Seiler notched consecutive saves on two shot attempts but Eckstein stuffed home a pinball rebound for the score.
Just before halftime, ten minutes after its first goal, the Beacons broke through again with a goal by Dana Fish, assisted by Katie Hansen, to extend the advantage 2-0 at the half.
In the last minute of the game, the Beacons converted its third goal of the match and earned the 3-0 victory. Seiler finished with five saves for the Cougars while the Valparaiso attempted 25 shots to CSU's five.
The Cougars next action will be Thursday, Sept. 16, at 10 a.m. at Bellarmine University in Louisville, Kentucky.Â
