Chicago State Women's Soccer Embarks on First-Ever WAC Tournament

Cougars take on host Grand Canyon Tuesday at 9 p.m.

PHOENIX — For the first time in program history, the Chicago State women's soccer team is headed to the Western Athletic Conference Tournament.

In head coach Cristiano Costa's fourth season, the No. 6 Cougars are slated to face host Grand Canyon, the No. 3 seed, Tuesday at 9 p.m. CT. The Antelopes enter riding a two game win streak and a 7-8-1 record, led by leading-scorer Jaycee Iranshad and powerful midfielder Marleen Schimmer, a member of the German National Team.

The two squads dueled twice this season — on March 25 and 27 at SeatGeek Stadium — with Grand Canyon winning both matches. Chicago State sophomore Gisselle Sahagun scored her first career goal in the first of the matches.

The match will be streamed live on ESPN+ at 9:00 p.m. to viewers in America. International fans can tune in at the WAC Digital Network.
