This Week in Chicago State Athletics

Women's Volleyball
March 22 vs. New Mexico State – 6 pm

March 23 vs. New Mexico State – 1 pm
The Chicago State women's volleyball team is scheduled to wrap up the regular season at home against conference leader New Mexico State on March 22 and 23 at the Jones Convocation Center in Chicago. The Cougars are receiving outstanding efforts from their middle blockers. Freshman Berenice Almeyda and sophomore Mesalina Severino rank second and third in hitting percentage in the Western Athletic Conference, respectively. Additionally, Almeyda's .411 hitting percentage ranks 29th in Division I. Following the early-week matches against NMSU, Chicago State will prepare for the WAC Tournament scheduled for April 1-3 in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

Men's Golf
March 22-23 at the Big Texan Invitational at Comanche Trace hosted by UTRGV
Chicago State will return to the course March 22-23 at the Big Texan Invitational at Comanche Trace (par 72, 7,059 yards) in Kerrville, Texas, hosted by the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. The Cougars will play 36 holes on Monday and 18 on Tuesday in the 10-team field which includes host UTRGV, New Mexico State, Seton Hall, Houston Baptist, New Orleans, Incarnate Word, Prairie View A&M, Texas Southern, Odessa College and Chicago State. Play will begin Monday at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start and the final 18 holes on Tuesday is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m.
 
Women's Soccer
March 25 vs. Grand Canyon – 1 pm
March 27 vs. Grand Canyon – 1 pm
The Cougars women's soccer team is scheduled to play its first of five consecutive home games to close out the regular season beginning Thursday, March 25 against Grand Canyon at SeatGeek Stadium. The two teams will play again Saturday, March 27, the Chicago State will close out the regular season at home against Utah Valley (April 1 and 3) and UTRGV (April 9). The top six teams in the conference standings qualify for the WAC Tournament which is scheduled for April 13-17 in Phoenix. CSU is currently in eighth.

Men's Tennis
March 26 vs. Grand Canyon – 10 am
March 27 vs. Seattle – 10 am
The Cougars men's tennis team will begin Western Athletic Conference play with matches against Grand Canyon and Seattle in Phoenix on March 26-27. Following the weekend's competition, CSU will have eight matches remaining, including the second of two conference pods, traveling to Edinburg, Texas, to match up against UTRGV and New Mexico State. The WAC Tournament is scheduled for April 30-May 2 in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
 
Women's Tennis
March 27 vs. Northern Iowa – 3 pm
March 28 vs. Eastern Illinois – 2 pm
The women's tennis team is scheduled for a pair of non-conference matches against the University of Northern Iowa (March 27) and Eastern Illinois (March 28) after opening conference play against Tarleton and UTRGV this past week. The Cougars have one conference pod remaining, traveling to Las Cruces, New Mexico, for matches against New Mexico State and Grand Canyon. CSU will have a pair of non-conference matches going into the WAC Tournament, scheduled for April 30-May 2 in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

Cougar Pride Fund
The Chicago State Athletics Department is pleased to announce the launch of the Cougar Pride Fund, an annual giving component benefiting student-athlete scholarships and sport program operations.
 
The Cougar Pride Fund is the first of its kind for Chicago State Athletics. As a foundational-level member of the Cougar Pride Fund, members will be witness to the unfolding of an era of growth within Chicago State University's athletic programs. In order to take our next step in developing competitive programs, supporting our student-athletes through cost of attendance and sport program operations is crucial.
 
There are four levels for membership in the Cougar Pride Fund with each level having certain member benefits including, but not limited to, exclusive access, ticket options and apparel.
