Box Score Muncie, Ind. — The Chicago State men's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to Ball State Wednesday afternoon in Muncie, Indiana.

Ball State won two of three matches to earn the doubles point, with the Cougars Jakov Suler and Jesus Perez leading 5-4 when the Cardinals clinched the point. Pedro Alvarez and Max Sandoval (No. 2) lost 6-1 and Jakub Zamorski and Javier Sanchez (No. 3) dropped a 6-3 decision.

"Silly mistakes made it difficult for us today," head coach Jack Barton said. "You have to be smart in the way you play and trust the work you put in during practice, unfortunately that didn't happen for us this afternoon."

In singles play, Jakov Suler lost 6-4, 6-1 at No. 1, Jesus Perez dropped a 6-3, 7-6 decision at No. 2 while Javier Sanchez lost 6-4, 2-6, 10-8. Jakub Zamorski lost 6-1, 6-3 at No. 4, Pedro Alvarez lost 6-3, 6-4, at No. 5 and Max Sandoval retired due to injury at No. 6.

"We played well in singles but they were tough," Barton said. "We made several pushes, but they did well to counter our momentum. We are off until March 5th, so we will get healthy, practice hard and focus on the rest of the season. We will learn from the last five matches and not look back."
