DEKALB, Ill. — The Chicago State women's soccer team dropped an exhibition matchup with Northern Illinois Saturday afternoon in DeKalb.
Haley Hoppe and Nicolette Gossage scored the Huskies' two goals, powering Northern Illinois to the in-state win.
"The team started out strong and dominated the first half," head coach
Cristiano Costa said. "But in the second half, our intensity and style of play deteriorated. Northern Illinois capitalized on it."
As an exhibition, the result doesn't count in Chicago State's record. The Cougars (0-2) next face New Mexico State Thursday at 2:00 p.m. CT in the team's WAC opener in Las Cruces, New Mexico. The Cougars and Aggies will battle again on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
