Women's soccer falls at Lamar

Cougars return to action Saturday

BEAUMONT, Texas — The Chicago state women's soccer team (1-14-1, 1-8 WAC) suffered a 2-0 defeat against the Lamar University Cardinals to kick off its Texas roadtrip.

In the first half, the Cardinals snuck by the Cougars early and, at the 24th minute mark, fired in their first goal, with a finish by Laura Linares. She was assisted by Hollie Massey.

Just ten minutes after, Lamar fired in their second goal of the match on a beautiful finish by Massey, who now had posted an assist and a goal.The Cougars relentlessly fought back yet fell short as the score remained 2-0 through to the final whistle. Alexa Seiler, CSU's freshman goalkeeper, registered three saves on the evening.

The Cougars next face UTRGV on Saturday at 7 p.m.

About Chicago State

Chicago State University Athletics is comprised of 15 intercollegiate teams involving over 150 student-athletes that compete in basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, tennis, indoor and outdoor track and volleyball. CSU held memberships in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and NCAA Division II before transitioning to NCAA Division I in 1994. Their feat marked the first time the Chicago State's men's track & field program was represented at the national meet.
