Men's Soccer Falls to Air Force

Cougars return to the pitch Sunday

BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. — The Chicago State men's soccer team (2-6-1, 0-2 WAC) battled it out against the Air Force Academy Falcons (3-4-1, 2-0 WAC) and suffered a 4-0 loss.

"Air Force is a tough team, and we saw that today," head coach Trevor Banks said. "We know the mentality and effort we need to put forward to gain results which we lacked today, and that starts with me. We will go back the drawn board and prepare for Sunday."

To start off the half, both teams came out ferociously offensively.

However, due to two fantastic saves each by goalkeepers Joe Bowels and Kainoa Likewise, the half remained scoreless in its early stages.

Air Force then finally broke through the Cougars' back line at the 20th minute with a beautifully placed goal slotted in by Lathan Spadafora which was assisted by Tristan Trager.

The rest of the half consisted of the Cougars repeatedly drawing up plays yet never breaking through offensively, leading them to trail, 1-0, heading into halftime.

In the second half of the match, the Falcons wasted no time at all and quickly fired in their second goal of the match at just the 46th minute mark with a beautifully placed finish by Trager, now tallying up an assist and a goal.

The Cougars relentlessly fought back and defended yet the Falcons rapidly scored once again, this time at the 52nd minute mark with a ferocious shot fired in once again by Trager, his second goal of the match.

The Air Force's last goal of the match came at the 58th minute mark with a dazzling finish by Spadafora, which was assisted by Thaddeus Dewing.

The match ended with a 4-0 score, the Falcons winning comfortably.

The Cougars next face Grand Canyon on Sunday at 12:00 p.m. at the SeatGeek Stadium turf field.
