CHICAGO – A two-point second half edge was not enough as the Chicago State women's basketball team fell to New Mexico State, 73-60, Thursday, Jan. 9 at home.
After an early exit from sophomore guard
Kourtney Crane (Peoria, Ill./Richwoods), the remaining starters for the Cougars, with the addition of
Nadia Miller (Chicago, Ill. /North Lawndale), saw limited breaks from action.
The Aggies jumped out to an early lead, taking a 42-24 advantage into the locker room at the half.
It was all Cougars in the second half as CSU outscored NMSU 33-31, with a five-point advantage in the fourth quarter. Despite the second-half efforts, the Aggies kept their perfect league record intact, with the 73-60 victory.
Tyeshia Bowers (Flint, Mich./Southwestern) (17),
Ines Mata Boix (Madrid, Spain/) (13), Bethany Carsten (11) and
Alexandria Cliff (Manitowoc, Wis./Roncalli) (10) all scored in double figures for the Cougars. Bowers dished a team-best seven dimes, while Mata Boix pulled down seven boards while blocking one shot, and Cliff played the entire 40 minutes of action and earned eight rebounds.
