Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Cougars Finish Winless in Sunshine State

Chicago State men's basketball suffered three-straight road losses as the Cougars spent their holiday week in Florida panhandle.

Florida State
To open the 2019 Emerald City Classic, the Cougars traveled to Tallahassee, Fla., where they dropped a 113-56 decision to ACC-foe Florida State on Nov. 25.

Andrew Lewis (Milwaukee, Wis./Milwaukee Vincent H.S.) led the CSU efforts with a team-best 18 points, while Solomon Hunt (Pomona, Calif./Upland H.S.) added an additional 10 points, and five rebounds.

Jacksonville State
During game two of the classic, CSU faced a tough Jacksonville State in Niceville, Fla., on Nov. 29.

Despite a six-point advantage for the Cougars with less than five minutes to play, the Gamecocks would earn the 71-62 victory.

Lewis added another 18-points to his week total, leading CSU offensively. He also collected six rebounds, four assists and two steals.

Trailing Lewis, Xavier Johnson (Dallas, Texas/Hopkins H.S.) put up 13 points with three steals, and Hunt finished with a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Alabama State
Turnovers plagued CSU against the Hornets as the Cougars suffered a 67-54 setback on Nov. 30 to close the month.

Lewis and Johnson finished in double-figures again for CSU with 18 and 12 respectively, as Lewis also led the team with eight boards.

The Hornets forced 28 Cougar turnovers, and outscored the CSU bench 34-to-10.

Up Next
