Wisehart Ties Career High with 17 Saves against California Baptist

CHICAGO – Senior Audra Wisehart (Sandusky, Ohio/Huron) tied a career high as she posted 17 saves today for the Chicago State women's soccer team as it dropped a 6-0 decision to Western Athletic Conference newcomer California Baptist in a conference contest today at Gwendolyn Brooks High School Field.
 
The Lancers opened the scoring at the 5:54 mark on a goal from Erin Gallagher with assists coming from Jordan Dow and Rebecca Romero for a 1-0 advantage. CBU scored again with 8.9 seconds left in the first half when Lanai Navarro scored off a pass from Miranda Martinez to go into halftime with a 2-0 lead.
 
In the second half, the visitors added goals in the 48th, 51st, 61st and 64th minutes for the victory.
 
Wisehart posted six saves in the first half before stopping 11 of 12 scoring attempts by California Baptist in the second half which also tied her school record for saves in a game to which she twice set in 2015 as a freshman.
 
Junior Sara Quevedo (Lomo Blanco, Spain) and freshman Marissa Beale (Frazier Park, Calif./Bakersfield Christian) each tallied three shot attempts to pace CSU on the offensive end.
 
The Cougars head northwest for a pair of WAC games next week that starts on Fri., Oct. 5 at Utah Valley with the opening kickoff set for 12 p.m., central time.
