Four Cougars Record Double-Doubles in Five-Set Thriller at Stetson

DELAND, Fla. – The Chicago State volleyball team saw four of its players record double-doubles during a thrilling five-set battle against host Stetson in its final match of the Stetson Invite on Saturday here at the Edmunds Center.
 
After winning the first set by a close 25-23 margin, CSU then fell in sets two (22-25) and three (13-25) to SU before battling back to claim the fourth set at 25-21. The Hatters (7-4) then captured the match after winning the fifth and final set, 15-11.
 
Junior Beatriz Palmieri (Ribeirao Preto, Sao Paulo, Brazil/Professora Carlina Cacapava de Mello) led the Green and White with a match-high 15 kills and 21 digs, while sophomore Lacee Adams (Muncie, Ind./Muncie Central) posted 29 assists and 17 digs. Freshman Autumn DeSantis (Canfield, OH/Cardinal Mooney) tallied her first collegiate double-double after producing season highs of 12 kills and 10 digs, and senior Ludmila Bomfim (Belo-Horizonte Minas Gerais, Brazil/Escola Estadual Pedro II) contributed 16 assists and a career-best 13 digs.
 
The Cougar defense were led by junior Megan Klavitter (Fenton, Mich./Linden) with a match-high 36 digs and sophomore Summer Farris (Farmington Hills, Mich./North Farmington) with five block assists.
 
Charlotte Earnhart (14 kills, 14 digs), Naina Ivanova (56 assists, 11 digs) and Eva Deisa (35 digs, 14 kills) paced Stetson with double-doubles of their own in the match.
 
Next up for Chicago State is the start of Western Athletic Conference play as it heads to Orem, Utah on Thursday, Sept. 20 to battle host Utah Valley at Lockhart Arena with the first serve set for 8 p.m., central time.
