Opening Kickoff
– The Chicago State women's soccer team is back in action by playing a pair of matches this weekend that begins Friday afternoon with an in-state showdown against Western Illinois at Gwendolyn Brooks High School Field starting at 1 p.m. CSU then heads to Terre Haute, Ind., on Sunday for a road contest versus host Indiana State at Memorial Stadium in a live broadcast on ESPN+ with the opening kickoff set for 12 p.m.

Scouting CSU – The Green and White head into the week with a season record of 0-5-1 after falling on the road last Friday at UMass by a score of 8-0. Freshman forward/midfielder Marissa Beale (Frazier Park, Calif./Bakersfield Christian) leads Chicago State in scoring with two goals and four points, while freshman forward Lola Arreola (Wheeling, Ill./Lake Forest Academy) and freshman defender Aanika Stevens (Boise, Idaho/Centennial) are tied for second in goals with one apiece. Senior goalkeeper Audra Wisehart (Sandusky, Ohio/Huron) has produced team highs of 41 saves and a .694 save percentage in three starts this season.

Scouting WIU – Western Illinois comes to Brooks Field sporting a season record of 1-4-1 after dropping a 3-1 decision to Milwaukee last Friday before breaking a three-game losing skid this past Sunday with a 1-1 tie against Ball State that also closed a four-game homestand. Bollman leads the Leathernecks with three goals, while senior goalie Ines Palmiero Herrera has recorded 38 saves, a 2.01 goals-against-average and a .760 save percentage this season.

Series History – Friday's contest marks the third lifetime meeting between CSU and Western Illinois with the Leathernecks holding a 2-0 advantage. WIU posted a 9S-1 victory over the Green and White in last season's meeting in Macomb on Sept. 17, 2017.

Scouting INST – Indiana State plays two home games this weekend at Memorial Stadium which begins Friday night against Western Michigan and sports a 5-2-2 season record with a five-game unbeaten streak. Last weekend, the Sycamores earned a 3-1 road win at Eastern Illinois before opening its homestand with a 2-0 shutout home victory over NCAA Division III Rose-Hulman. ISU is led on the offensive end by Katie Wells, the reigning Missouri Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Week, as she has tallied 14 points on five goals and 4 assists so far this season. Junior Hannah Sullivan leads the team with a 0.85 goals-against average and a .778 save percentage to go along with 28 saves and four shutout wins in goal.

Series History – Indiana State currently holds a 4-0 lead over Chicago State in the all-time series that date back to CSU's first season in 2014. The Sycamores posted a 6-2 victory over the Cougars last season in Chicago at Kroc Stadium on Sept. 24, 2017.

International Flavor - The Green and White have brought some international flavor to this year's squad with nine players hailing from five countries: Brazil (3), Spain (2), England (1), Australia (1), Hungary (1) and Canada (1).

Up Next – The Cougars make a return trip to Indiana on Sept. 22 for their final preparation for Western Athletic Conference play as they will play at Purdue Fort Wayne with the opening kickoff set for 2 p.m.
