Opening Kickoff
– Chicago State women's soccer concludes its season opening three-game road swing with a Sunday afternoon battle against host South Dakota at the Family Bank and Trust Soccer Complex in Vermillion, S.D. with the start time slated for 1 p.m.

Scouting CSU – CSU comes into this week's action sporting a season record of 0-1-1 after posting a 2-2 tie at Youngstown State in its season opener last Friday followed with a 3-1 defeat at Cleveland State this past Sunday. Freshman forward/midfielder Marissa Beale (Frazier Park, Calif./Bakersfield Christian) leads the Green and White in scoring with two goals and four points, while senior goalkeeper Audra Wisehart (Sandusky, Ohio/Huron) has produced 13 saves, a 2.25 goals-against-average and a .722 save percentage.

Scouting USD – South Dakota has posted a 0-1-2 record on the young season after playing to a 1-1 tie at Eastern Washington last night. The Coyotes fell to Wyoming in their home opener last Friday by a score of 4-2 then earned a scoreless tie on the road at Northern Iowa two days later. Junior midfielder Amanda Carpio leads the team in scoring with four points on a pair of goals. Senior Parker Rytz has produced a 1.45 goals-against-average and a saves percentage of .808 to go along with stopping 21 shots in goal.

Series History – Chicago State and South Dakota will meet for only the second time in history on the soccer field. USD posted a 4-0 victory in the first meeting between the two schools on Sept. 4, 2015 at the Ray and Joan Kroc Stadium in Chicago.

Settling in the College Game – It didn't take long for Beale to get adjusted to college soccer as the California native scored a goal in CSU's first two contests last week. She came to CSU after scoring a lot at Bakersfield Christian High School which included tallying 40 goals and 88 points in her junior season in 2017.

International Flavor - The Green and White have brought some international flavor to this year's squad with nine players hailing from five countries: Brazil (3), Spain (2), England (1), Australia (1), Hungary (1) and Canada (1).

Up Next - CSU opens its home schedule next weekend at Brooks Field with a pair of matches against in-state foes that begin on Aug. 31 against SIU Edwardsville with the opening kickoff set for 1 p.m.
