LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The Chicago State baseball opened its weekend Western Athletic Conference series here tonight against host New Mexico State falling by a score of 15-2 at NMSU's Presley Askew Field.

NM State received two-RBI doubles from Caleb Henderson and Tristen Carranza in the first inning for an early 4-0 advantage. The home team then added three runs in the second inning to increase its lead to 7-0 and scored seven more runs in the fourth as its leading margin grew to 14-0.

CSU tallied a pair of runs in the top of the sixth to pull within 14-2 which included an RBI single from senior Brandon Eyring (Mesa, Ariz./Mesa), but the Aggies scored a run in the bottom half of the inning for the final margin.

The Cougars received a perfect offensive output from junior Tyler Lowe (Northville, Mich./Northville) as he hit 2-for-2 at the plate and scored a run. Taking the loss on the mound was freshman Dylan Cumming (Grand Blanc, Mich./Grand Blanc) as he gave up four runs on three hits in one-third of an inning.
