Men’s Basketball Concludes 2017-18 Campaign at WAC Tournament

LAS VEGAS – Chicago State men's basketball concluded its 2017-18 season here on Thursday night after falling to New Mexico State by a score of 97-70 in a Western Athletic Conference Tournament quarterfinal game at Orleans Arena.
 
The Aggies opened the game with a 19-6 run in a near nine-minute span and cruised to a 45-26 halftime lead before outscoring CSU 52-44 in the second half for the win.
 
Four players scored in double figures for the Cougars with seniors Glen Burns (West Memphis, Ark./West Memphis Christian) and Deionte Simmons (Detroit, Mich./Lewisville (Texas)) leading the way with 14 points. Simmons also added four rebounds and tied a career high with three steals while shooting 5-of-9 from the field.
 
Junior Fred Sims, Jr. (Chicago, Ill./North Lawndale) moved into fifth place on CSU's Division I career scoring list as he added 13 points, and senior Jelani Pruitt (Gary, Ind./Merrillville (Ind.)) also contributed 13 points in his final collegiate game.
 
Zach Lofton tallied a game-high 21 points and Jemerrio Jones grabbed a game-leading 15 rebounds to lead New Mexico State.
