Chicago State Falls at Bradley in First Mid-Week Contest of 2018

PEORIA, Ill. – Visiting Chicago State fell to Bradley here Wednesday evening by a score of 16-1 through seven innings at Dozer Park in its first mid-week game of the season.

The Braves broke a scoreless tie in the second innings by tallying three runs for an early 3-0 advantage. BU would later add four runs in the third, three runs in the fourth and six runs in the sixth to close its scoring.

CSU recorded a run in the fifth inning as senior Zach Thomas (Joliet, Ill./Joliet West) lined an infield single which led to freshman Reggie Brock, Jr. (Chicago, Ill./Simeon) crossing home plate on a throwing error to pull within 10-1.

Thomas batted 1-for-3 to lead the Green and White, while freshman Blake Kaplan (Las Vegas, Nev./Sierra Vista) took the loss in his first collegiate start by allowing seven runs on four hits in 2.1 innings of work.

The Cougars travel to Phoenix this weekend for their first Western Athletic Conference series of the season against host Grand Canyon that begins on Friday night at 8 p.m.
