Harris Posts Career-High 25 Points as CSU Ends Losing Streak with Win at Utah Valley

OREM, Utah – Redshirt senior Konner Harris (Sidney, Ohio/Sidney) posted a career-high 25 points in leading four Chicago State women's basketball players in double figures as the visiting Cougars ended a 59-game losing streak here today with an 84-74 win over host Utah Valley in a Western Athletic Conference contest at Lockhart Arena.
 
Harris connected on 5-of-10 shooting from the field, including 4-of-5 from three-point range, and drained 11 of her 12 attempts at the free throw line. She also dished out a career-high eight assists, tied another career high with three steals and grabbed three rebounds.
 
CSU took a commanding 21-5 lead after the first quarter and later used a close 19-16 duke in the second quarter to enter intermission with a 40-21 advantage with redshirt senior Phylicia Johnson (Columbus, Ohio/Pickerington Central) leading the way with 12 points.
 
The Green and White increased their leading margin to 60-40 after posting a close 20-19 after the third quarter, but held on for the win after UVU took the fourth quarter by a 34-24 score.
 
Chicago State held advantages in rebounds (32-26), assists (20-17) and second-chance points (11-8) over the Wolverines.
 
Johnson tied a pair of career highs with 20 points and six rebounds while setting a new career high for steals with four. She shot 6-of-8 from the field, knocked down 5-of-7 from three and went 3-of-4 from the line.
 
Redshirt sophomore Ines Mata Boix (Madrid, Spain) posted her sixth double-double of the season for CSU as she scored 16 points and grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds, and freshman Tyeshia Bowers (Flint, Mich./Southwestern) finished with 10 points.
 
Utah Valley saw four of its players score in double figures with Mariah Seals leading the way with 21 points and dished out eight assists.
 
Chicago State continues its road swing on Saturday evening in Washington state when it takes on host Seattle at the Connolly Complex starting at 6 p.m.
