Baseball Closes Snowbird Classic with 7-2 Loss to No. 17 Indiana

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. – The Chicago State baseball team finished the Snowbird Classic here today after falling to No. 17 Indiana by a score of 7-2 at the North Charlotte Regional Park Field #10.
 
CSU opened the top of the first inning with a 2-0 lead thanks to an RBI double from senior Cody Freund (McHenry, Ill./McHenry) and junior Tyler Lowe (Northville, Mich./Northville) followed that with an RBI single, but Indiana pulled within 2-1 after Logan Kaletha solo home run.
 
IU captured its first lead of the contest at 3-2 thanks to a two-run home run from Luke Miller in the third inning off CSU starting pitcher Zach Thomas (Joliet, Ill./Joliet West). The Hoosiers finished off the scoring with four runs in the sixth inning.
 
Freund batted 2-for-4 to lead the Green and White, while Thomas took the loss after allowing three runs on five hits in five innings thrown with three strikeouts.
 
The Cougars head to Missouri for a three-game series at Saint Louis which begins Friday afternoon at 3 p.m.
