Mata Boix Leads CSU Tonight at Northern Illinois

DEKALB, Ill. – Junior Ines Mata Boix (Madrid, Spain/) recorded team highs of 16 points and grabbed a game-high nine rebounds to lead three Chicago State women's basketball players in double figures here tonight against host Northern Illinois at the NIU Convocation Center. The host team would claim a 114-52 victory with five players scoring in double figures.
 
The Huskies took an early 12-2 lead in the first three minutes of the contest that ended with a jumper from Mikayla Voigt at 7:17.
 
Five of the next seven points were scored by the Green and White through freshman Taylor Robinson (Bolingbrook, Ill./Bolingbrook) to pull within 14-7 with 4:45 left in the stanza, but NIU finished the quarter with an 11-4 run to increase its lead to 25-11 before outscoring CSU by an 89-41 margin over the final three quarters.
 
Robinson came off the bench to add 11 points for the Cougars, while redshirt sophomore Destinee Pointer (Waxahatchie, Texas/Waxahatchie) tallied 10 points and junior Alexandria Cliff (Manitowoc, Wis./Roncalli) dished out a career-high four assists.
 
Voigt posted game highs of 29 points and eight assists for NIU.

After taking off for Christmas, Chicago State returns to action on Friday, Dec. 28 with a trip downstate to Peoria for the finale of its four-game road swing at Bradley live on ESPN+ beginning at 7 p.m.
