CHICAGO -

Opening Serve – The Chicago State volleyball team kicks off its final homestand of the season tomorrow afternoon at the Jacoby Dickens Center as it battles CSU Bakersfield in a key Western Athletic Conference match with the first serve set for 12 p.m.

Scouting the Cougars – CSU brings an 8-20 record into tomorrow's showdown which includes a 2-9 ledger against conference foes while it is looking to break a six-match losing streak which dates to Oct. 13. The Green and White closed its non-conference slate with a 3-0 loss at Drake on Monday evening to end a three-match road swing. Senior outside hitter Lauryn Dela Cruz (Provo, Utah/Timpview) is averaging team highs of 3.94 points and 3.52 kills per set, while junior defensive specialist Megan Klavitter (Fenton, Mich./Linden) leads WAC in total digs (575) and digs per set (5.58) in addition to producing a team-best 31 service aces.

Scouting the Roadrunners – CSU Bakersfield enters tomorrow's match with a 12-13 season record and holds a 5-7 mark in conference play after dropping a 3-1 decision at WAC co-leader Kansas City on Thursday evening. Senior outside hitter Briannah Mariner has tallied a team-leading average of 2.41 kills per set followed by sophomore outside hitter Desiree Sukhov posting a team-best 40 service aces on the year. The Roadrunner defense is paced by sophomore libero Krista Hernandez (5.00 digs per set) and redshirt freshman middle blocker/right side hitter Brooke Boiseau (two solo, 93 assisted = 95 blocks – 1.02 bps).

Series History – Tomorrow's match will be the 15th lifetime meeting between Chicago State and CSU Bakersfield on the volleyball court with the Roadrunners holding a 14-0 advantage which includes a 3-1 victory last Saturday in Bakersfield.

Klavitter Captures CSU Career Digs Record – After capturing the school's Division I career digs record last month, Klavitter looks to finish off the season moving up the WAC's career record book as she has produced 1,399 for her career so far and needs four digs to crack the league Top 10 all-time dig leaders going into tomorrow's CSUB match.

Up Next – The Green and White close out their home slate at the JDC next week with a pair of matches for Homecoming week beginning on Thursday, Nov. 8 versus Seattle U with the first serve set for 7 p.m.
