Sorribes Ties CSU Single-Game Saves Record at Seattle U

SEATTLE – Freshman goalkeeper Judith Sorribes (Barcelona, Spain/Bisbe Berenguer) had a huge game here today for the Chicago State women's soccer team as she recorded a season-best 17 saves to tie the school's single game record in a 3-1 defeat to host Seattle U in a Western Athletic Conference contest at Championship Field.

Sorribes posted 10 saves in the first half and added seven saves in the second half to share the record with senior Audra Wisehart (Sandusky, Ohio/Huron), who had equaled the record on Sept. 30 against California Baptist.

The Redhawks gained an early 1-0 lead during the first half in the 13th minute on a short punch shot from Isabelle Butterfield off a pass by Jessie Ray.

CSU would even the score at 1-1 in the 25th minute when junior Sara Quevedo (Lomo Blanco, Spain) was fouled inside the 18-yard box and converted the penalty kick for her third goal of the season, but SU added a goal in the 42nd minute to take a 2-1 advantage into halftime.

The score stayed the same for a majority of the second half until the 78th minute when Seattle U scored the final goal of the game to seal the victory.

Quevedo led the Cougars with four shot attempts that included three scoring chances on goal.

The Green and White return to Gwendolyn Brooks High School Field on Friday, Oct. 12 with a WAC battle against Grand Canyon beginning at 1 p.m.
